Group Spiritual Direction for Women on Identity and Calling
This hope-filled and encouraging group will be running again this October-November led by Spiritual Director Brigid Cullen Smith.
Past participant Sarah said, “I felt that the best parts of me were brought into the light so I could see more of who God created me to be. And I felt that I could express some of the darker parts of myself without shame or regret, that my vulnerability was met with compassion and love. I had no idea that it would be such a rich experience that I would encounter both the fellowship of Christ and the love of God in such a powerful way.”
Our understanding of who God is and our understanding of our own identity are inextricably woven together. When we go deeper into understanding God’s love, grace or faithfulness, we can immediately understand ourselves and our place in the world a little better. At the same time, when we encounter disappointment or disillusionment in our identity, we can question or feel frustrated with our understanding of God, and God can feel suddenly a bit distant or unfamiliar.
This intersection in our souls is where Spiritual Direction can meet you and invite you into safe questioning, safe ways of feeling your hunger for more, and safe ways of feeling your frustrations and disappointments. This can give God time to meet with you there in those places where we find it hard to linger. If you struggle to feel hopeful or faith-filled that God will speak to you, I will be hopeful and faith-filled for you. The others in the group will as well.
Bring your longings, heartache, and hard questions, and let’s show up for one another as we invite God to be Love, Grace, and Vision again in our midst.
Women of all ages are invited. Whether you are just beginning to discover a deeper understanding of yourself in God’s eyes or need to dig deep to remember who God said you were years ago, you are very welcome to journey with us.

Brigid Cullen Smith
Brigid is passionate about helping others find a deeper and more intimate connection with God. While she has enjoyed serving in a number of different ways, for example teaching Sunday school, serving on and leading prayer teams, teaching from the pulpit, and as a member of deeper healing prayer teams, her favorite way to connect with other followers of Jesus is through Spiritual Direction. For Brigid, it’s that incredibly beautiful connection between getting to know self and getting to know God more deeply that makes every session like a treasure hunt where God always wants to be found and wants us to feel found. We listen for the still small voice and hear Jesus singing a unique and beautiful song over each one. What a gift.
Brigid lives with husband, Jeremy in Dresden, Germany and part time in Portland, Oregon and enjoys time with their four grown children as often as possible!
