BILL D.png

After studying at Duke University and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Bill was involved for eight years in pastoral ministry as a youth minister and church planter. After the heartbreak of a failed church plant, he took a position in 1992 teaching Bible at a Christian high school in Nashville, TN. During that time, he also coached the varsity boys track and cross country teams. There he found his real quest for the next twenty years, connecting the Bible to the hearts of high school students. Toward the end of that time, he felt the Holy Spirit’s urgings to pursue a new quest, one that would be centered around the healing of men. Despite his initial fears and objections, his community encouraged him to begin something new. So in 2012, Bill left full-time teaching to begin Landmark Journey Ministries. Our mission was to help men find their guide in Christ, own their identity, discover their quest, and move out as men.

Since then, Bill has seen God open many new and wonderful doors. But the most compelling new opportunity was the chance to be formed as a spiritual director under Kris Miller’s leadership. Bill loves doing this ministry and participating with the Holy Spirit in what He is doing in someone’s life. He often leaves his times of spiritual direction feeling wonder at seeing God’s hand at work in our sessions. His general emphases in direction are helping men structure silence with God, articulating core desires, inner healing from past traumas, using the imagination in prayer, and learning to discern God’s voice.

In his spare time, he enjoys reading, backpacking, walking with friends, and playing the piano. If he has any claim to fame, it is being married to a very special woman for 34 years, Heidi. His other claim is having two adult daughters who are both amazing, Abigail and Rachel.
